COUNTYWIDE : Curtis Elevated to Presiding Judgeship

Judge Herbert Curtis III has been elevated to presiding judge of the Ventura County Municipal Court for 1991, elected unanimously to the position by his fellow Municipal Court judges.
Curtis, a Democrat, was appointed to the Municipal Court in October, 1984, by Gov. George Deukmejian and was reelected in 1986. Before his appointment to the bench, Curtis, 43, served as a prosecutor in the Ventura County district attorney’s office from 1975 to 1984.
Curtis taught civics in public schools in Cleveland, Ohio, from 1969-75 before passing the bar.
He graduated from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law with a juris doctorate in 1975. He received his bachelor’s degree from Cleveland State University.
Curtis appointed Judge Bruce A. Clark as the assistant presiding judge of the municipal court for 1991.
