California IN BRIEF : OCEANSIDE : Marine Pets Offered Foster-Home Service
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The northern San Diego County Humane Society has created a foster-home service for the pets of Marines who are deployed to the Middle East. The service was created last week after news stories surfaced about how animal shelters were filling up with the pets of Camp Pendleton Marines deployed under Operation Desert Shield. To enroll a pet in the program, military personnel must call the Humane Society, and it will arrange to have a foster-pet volunteer contact them to work out the details.
