The Ventura County Fire Protection District opens its new Rincon Station today, with dedication ceremonies set for 10 a.m.

The 5,800-square-foot station, near the beach community of Seacliff on Pacific Coast Highway, is designed with a diesel exhaust-removal system in the engine room to remove pollutants from the air as fire engines are warmed up.

“The system will also clean out the soot in the engine room created by the diesel fuel,” said Capt. Paul Ramonette, district facilities manager.

The new blue and white building, which replaces the original 40-year-old station, took a year and about $657,000 to build, Ramonette said.
