David Wingate, a former player with the San Antonio Spurs who has been accused of raping two women, has been named in a lawsuit in Ellicott City, Md., resulting from an auto accident that injured a woman and her child.

Wingate, who helped lead Georgetown to the NCAA championship in 1984, was named in the $23-million suit that claimed he negligently lent his car to a nephew, who ran into the woman and her 4-year-old child.

Wingate, 27, faces trial next month for the alleged rape of a 17-year-old girl. A 22-year-old woman in San Antonio accused Wingate in a civil suit of raping her in June.
