Santa Monica : New Mayor Picks Delegates

Share

Mayor Judy Abdo, in the City Council’s first meeting since she was elected, made numerous appointments to local, state and regional bodies and appointed herself as delegate to the National League of Cities.

The defeat of longtime Councilwoman Christine E. Reed in the Nov. 6 election left open seats on the Southern California Assn. of Governments and Southern California Rapid Transit District boards. They were filled by Councilman Ken Genser and Abdo, respectively. Under city rules, Reed was allowed to keep her position as Santa Monica’s delegate to the Metropolitan Water District.

Abdo also appointed herself as delegate to the California League of Cities. She appointed Genser and Councilman Robert T. Holbrook as the city’s delegates to the Los Angeles League of Cities.
