Sunken Scrap Barge Halts Traffic on Allegheny River

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — U.S. Coast Guard officials halted traffic Thursday on the Allegheny River because a sunken scrap barge threatened vessels on the surface. A four-mile stretch of the river was closed near the site where the barge became stuck and bent at a 45-degree angle last Friday.
