KEVIN COSTNER
Dutka’s interview with “street-smart” Kevin Costner was depressingly true to type. Somehow celebrity becomes confused with talent and achievement, and Dutka seeks to hype an actor with the charisma of wet socks by calling nondescript, pale eyes “steel blue.” She is not willing to admit Costner is self-absorbed, so a decision about what length to wear his hair becomes a quest for historical truth--for a week. She marvels that Costner can view himself in third person as if any functioning human being over the age of 4 can not.
Let’s get to the truth here: Kevin Costner is a modestly talented, pleasant looking man with a soft, sluggish mind and a lot of ambition. He is, like most actors, infatuated with his own reflection.
