Syncor Reports Slightly Higher 2nd-Quarter Profit

Syncor International Corp., a Chatsworth operator of pharmacy centers that primarily serve health-care facilities and doctors, said its fiscal second-quarter profit edged up to $1.03 million from $1 million a year earlier, when its earnings included a $216,000 tax-related gain.
The latest profit in the quarter that ended Nov. 30 came on a 19% increase in Syncor’s sales, to $37.3 million from $31.3 million.
For the first half of its fiscal year, Syncor earned $2.10 million, down slightly from $2.15 million a year earlier, when Syncor’s net income included a $548,000 tax gain. Excluding the extraordinary gain, Syncor’s profit was up 31% from a year ago. Its six-month sales rose 19% to $73.4 million from $61.8 million.
