Rawls Rolls in Vegas: Singer Lou Rawls says his graduation from the College of Hard Knocks has made him determined that America’s young blacks will not be denied a higher education because they can’t afford one. On Saturday in Las Vegas, the four-time Grammy-winner heads up his 11th annual Parade of Stars Telethon for the United Negro College Fund. The telethon has raised more than $77 million in the past decade, providing funding for 41 private black colleges and universities. Bill Cosby, Natalie Cole, Bryant Gumbel, M. C. Hammer, Herbie Hancock and Oprah Winfrey are scheduled to appear.
