THE UCI STORY: The 128-page pictorial history “UCI: The First 25 Years” is due out in October in celebration of the campus’s silver anniversary this year. The money is coming from private donations--the largest, $25,000, from retired financier Walter Gerken and his wife, Darlene. . . . But the idea came from Suzanne Peltason, wife of UCI’s chancellor. “I wanted all of the control but none of the work,” she says. . . . The book’s highlight will be 13 Ansel Adams photographs dating from the campus’s early days.
