Four-time National League batting champion Bill Madlock, who retired in 1988, filed a multimillion dollar lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court against his former agent, Stephen Greenberg, who is now the deputy commissioner of baseball.
The lawsuit, which also names Madlock’s former accountant, Steven Kriegsman, cites breach of contract, breach of good faith and fair dealings, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud and deceit, accounting malpractice, negligence and conspiracy.
Attorney Robert Mintz of San Diego, who filed the suit on behalf of Madlock and his wife, Cynthia, declined to discuss the matter, saying only that the suit was for “several million dollars.”
