Takin On The Cash, a 2-year-old colt that has won $316,964 and is a leading contender for 1990 national championship honors, leads a field of 10 in tonight’s $334,000 Golden State Futurity at Los Alamitos.

The 400-yard Golden State Futurity is the richest race held during the winter quarter horse season at Los Alamitos. The field for the Grade I stakes was determined in time trials held on Dec. 19 at the Orange County track.

The son of Dash For Cash, who is owned by Felipe Tiscareno and trained by Henry Dominguez, comes into the Golden State Futurity with victories in the Grade I Bay Meadows Futurity, the Grade I Kindergarten and the Grade I Dash For Cash Futurity.

Kip Didericksen, who recently eclipsed the all-time quarter horse jockey earnings by going over $2.6 million in 1990 winnings, will ride Takin On The Cash.

The rest of the field is Kid O Dash, Blisterin, Susies Girl Sally, Galla Go Special, Illawardyall, Jacks Dash, Vital Sign, Resolutions and Shawnes Diamond.
