Woman, 80, Killed When Hit by Truck
An 80-year-old woman was killed Saturday shortly after dark when she was struck by a pickup truck while crossing West 17th Street in the middle of the 1800 block.
The woman, whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives, was pronounced dead upon arrival at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
Police said the woman apparently was crossing the street about 5:40 p.m., but not at a marked crosswalk.
The driver of the pickup was a 25-year-old man from Santa Ana, who was not arrested. Police said alcohol was not involved.
