1990 in Review : West Hollywood : Food Coalition Moves, Survives Controversy

The Greater West Hollywood Food Coalition has managed to survive a year of controversy at its new location on Sycamore Avenue and Romaine Street in Hollywood.

Because of the recent cold weather, organizers say, the numbers have dropped from an average of about 150 a day to about 80. They are not experiencing the kinds of problems they had last year when the group was working out of West Hollywood’s Plummer Park. The group was ousted from that location as result of neighborhood complaints. It also lost a major food contributor when Drexel Burnham Lambert, which donated leftover food to the group, declared bankruptcy.
