Bush Aide Considered for Fed Post: The Administration confirmed that White House aide Lawrence Lindsey is among the candidates being considered to fill a vacancy on the Federal Reserve Board created by the resignation of Vice Chairman Manuel H. Johnson. Lindsey, a 36-year-old economist, has been working on Administration proposals to overhaul federal laws governing banks and the deposit insurance system. He is a strong defender of supply side economics, whose supporters say tax cuts can boost government revenue by spurring economic activity.
