COUNTYWIDE : Cal State Urged to Pick Site Carefully

Share

Cal State University officials were urged by the public Thursday to consider traffic, parking, protection of agricultural land and proximity to major highways as they begin their environmental study of the four proposed sites for a Cal State campus in Ventura County.

The comments came during a meeting that allowed residents to voice concerns about how a campus would affect the environment. Brian Boxer, project manager for EIP Associates, which is conducting the preliminary environmental report on the sites, said the residents’ concerns would be added to the overall report.

Cal State officials are considering four sites in Ventura County for a campus, including 312 acres near Harbor Boulevard and Gonzales Road northwest of Oxnard; 300 acres south of Wooley Road between Rose and Rice avenues south of Oxnard; 589 acres near Central and Santa Clara avenues west of Camarillo; and 448 acres south of Foothill Road between Wells and Kimball roads northeast of Ventura.
