Death Blamed on Indoor Barbecue
A man who was found asphyxiated Wednesday evening after bringing a barbecue indoors to cook a steak was identified Thursday as 42-year-old Eric Arthur Jordan, the Orange County coroner’s office said.
The office’s tentative ruling is that Jordan died of carbon monoxide poisoning, but an official cause of death awaits the results of toxicological tests, Senior Deputy Coroner Richard McAnally said.
Jordan was found on his couch by a neighbor shortly after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. He apparently lighted the barbecue to cook a steak, then passed out as carbon monoxide filled the room, police said. The doors and windows of the apartment, located in the 19000 block of Magnolia Street, were closed.
