An Anaheim woman was killed Wednesday evening after being hit by a car as she walked across the Riverside Freeway at Euclid Avenue, a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman said.

Teresa Swallow, 45, was crossing the eastbound lanes of the freeway, walking toward the center divider, when she was struck at 7:25 p.m. by a 1983 Buick Regal driven by a Yorba Linda man, CHP Officer Angel Johnson said.

The car was traveling about 55 miles per hour when it struck the woman in the fast lane, Johnson said. Swallow was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was not known why Swallow was crossing the freeway, and no disabled vehicle was discovered along the road, Johnson said. The driver was not cited, but the accident is still under investigation, she said.
