Britons Increasingly Take It Out on Their Pets

LONDON —
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said it investigated 100,000 cases of cruelty in 1990 and expects the figure to rise this year.
The group said Thursday that its latest figures reflect a 20% increase from 1989 as thousands more pets were abused.
