Heisman Trophy winner Ty Detmer underwent surgery to repair one of two shoulders separated during Brigham Young’s Holiday Bowl loss to Texas A&M.; Cougar Coach LaVell Edwards said that the operation was performed on the junior quarterback’s right, or throwing, shoulder. “Ty will be throwing in three months and everything will be fine for the fall,” Edwards said. Detmer’s left shoulder, less severely injured, will be allowed to heal without surgery.
