Arcadia : Motor to Cut Emissions

Share

The city will install an electric motor at its ground-water well on North Peck Road to comply with new AQMD standards to reduce gas emissions.

The City Council unanimously approved an agreement with Southern California Edison Co. for a motor to replace a combustion engine that uses natural gas, said Eldon Davidson, Arcadia’s water manager. The South Coast Air Quality Management District will allow Edison to operate more power plants if cities reduce emissions, he said.

Edison will give Arcadia a $105,059 rebate if the motor is installed before Dec. 31, 1991. Total cost of the project is $200,000. The city’s share is $94,941.
