USC’s April Named as Ohio State Assistant

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State Coach John Cooper filled the second of three vacant assistant coaching positions Saturday by hiring USC assistant coach Bobby April as a defensive assistant.
April, 37, was a secondary coach and kicking game coordinator at USC for the past four seasons. He was defensive line coach and kicking game and secondary coach from 1980 to 1986 at Arizona. He also was an assistant at Tulane. At each school, he was an assistant to Coach Larry Smith.
“The prestige and availability to do something great were the main attractions to Ohio State,” April said.
