Adobe Systems Inc.: The Mountain View, Calif., software maker reported record earnings for the quarter and year. Fourth-quarter profit was up 20% to $12 million, and annual profit rose 19% to $40.1 million. Fourth-quarter revenue jumped 42% to $53.4 million and annual revenue climbed 39% to $121.4 million, both records. Key reasons for the company’s surge were a series of licensing agreements with large makers of computer and printer hardware, including Xerox and Apple Computer, and an IBM endorsement of Adobe’s Font 1 typefaces for computers.
