COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Oregon Edges Titans in Wrestling

Oregon, ranked 21st in the nation, defeated Cal State Fullerton, 19-16, in a Pacific 10 wrestling match Tuesday at Fullerton.

The Ducks sealed the victory when Curt Strahm (190 pounds) scored a technical fall over Derrick Brown at 5:16 in the second-to-last match.

Fullerton’s winners were: Lyndon Campbell (134), Marty Kouyoumtjian (150), Ramon Diaz (177) and David Jones (heavyweight). Fullerton is 4-4, 0-2 and Oregon is 5-0, 4-0.

In Golden State Athletic Conference men’s basketball:

Westmont 66, Christ College Irvine 63--Leading, 60-48, with eight minutes remaining, host Christ College Irvine (6-11, 0-1) folded against the No. 25-ranked NAIA team in the nation. While the Eagles were being outscored, 18-3, three of their players--Aaron Clasen, Jamie McShan and Mike Oden--fouled out.

Corey Smith had 19 points for the Eagles.

Fresno Pacific 82, Southern California College 75--Fresno outshot SCC 51% to 39% from the field and handed the Vanguards (13-3, 0-1) their first loss in 11 games. Scot Patterson scored 21 points for host Fresno Pacific (9-7, 1-0). Jeff Bickmore had 21 for SCC.

In Golden State Athletic Conference women’s basketball:

Fresno Pacific 86, Southern California College 55--Karen Murray had 26 points and Dana Coates had 12 points and 12 rebounds for host Fresno Pacific (4-7, 1-0). Darnell Good 18 and Lori Halliday had 14 for SCC (6-8, 0-1).
