The first of a series of San Diego events leading up to the Jan. 21 celebration of Martin Luther King’s birthday begins today.
Actress Esther Rolle, known for her roles in the film “Driving Miss Daisy” and the TV series “Good Times,” will speak today at an 11 a.m. ceremony honoring King at the Navy Hospital in Balboa Park.
On Saturday, the 11th annual Kingdom Day Parade salutes the civil rights leader in a march through downtown San Diego.
