‘There Will Be No War for Big Oil’

Share

While the Jan. 3 article, “The Draft: If There’s a War, There’s a Way,” began as an informative piece on the Selective Service and the potential speed with which millions of young Americans can be called to war, I was appalled by a complete lack of real, meaningful assertions about the number of people who would actually go to war.

Surely fewer than the “eight out of 10” mentioned by one insurance broker in the article would go to war. He said he doesn’t know “anybody my age who disagrees with us being (in Saudi Arabia).” I know very few who agree that we should be there. And eight out of 10 of my friends wouldn’t go to war.

Nor would we run to Canada or Mexico. We are Americans for better or for worse. We will be in the streets protesting and expressing our beliefs, beliefs the media and the government will not acknowledge.

As far as we are concerned, there will be no war for big oil. We reject the notion that the United States is trying to restore a new world order. Read our lips: No new taxing of the American youth to pay for big business and corrupt bureaucracy.
