Donald Madonna, 53, head of the 2-year-old Museum of Flying at Santa Monica Airport. A member of the first graduating class from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1959, Madonna logged 4,000 hours in his 23 years in service, including 562 hours of combat flying time in Vietnam. He served as commandant of the Edwards Air Force Base test pilot school from 1980 to 1982. On Thursday in Bossier Parish, La., in the crash of a private plane.
