Board OKs $6.9-Million Contract for Building
The Glendale Board of Education has approved a $6.9-million contract for construction of a 37-room building at Hoover High School.
The project, scheduled to begin Jan. 31, will be financed by local school bonds and is expected to be completed by September, 1992, said Vic Pallos, district spokesman. It was approved unanimously at the board’s Jan. 8 meeting.
Four of the 37 classrooms will be equipped for science classes, bringing the cost up $350,000 more than originally estimated. Pallos said the board is expected to approve a similar proposal for Glendale High School as early as next month.
According to Pallos, the bonds will be paid off over a number of years with money from a fee paid by developers of a condominium project and the lease of school district property on which the development will be built.
The contract was awarded to Berry Construction of Upland.
