THOUSAND OAKS : Request to Film TV Show in Park Denied

Share

A Van Nuys film company was denied permission Thursday to film a scene for a television series at a Thousand Oaks park.

Lava Films wanted to use El Parque de la Paz at Oakview Drive and Pleasant Way to film a night scene for the series “Beverly Hills 90210.”

But Conejo Recreation and Park District board members, who voted to deny the request, had been concerned that the filming would have been disruptive to neighbors. Requests from film companies to shoot after dark at any park in the district have never been granted, a district official said.

Officials also cited possible damage because a crane that would have been used weighs about 12,000 pounds.

Lava Films had asked the California Film Commission to serve as liaison with the district, and the commission had asked that the permit be granted.
