Operation Rescue Under Fire

The article expresses surprise that anti-abortion groups would be involved in the Cruzan case. To be anti-abortion is not just to be against abortion. It is to be in support of life. If a person is interested in the right to life, the rights of the disabled must be protected along with the rights of the unborn.

It is one of the characteristics of a civilized society that the rights of the weak members of that society are protected. Nancy Cruzan was a weak member of our society. I fear for us when we can convince ourselves that food and water, something every person needs for basic survival, is “life support.”
