PLATFORM : Reservists’ Pay

It’s a good idea because we’re supporting our people in the Persian Gulf and the city gets the benefit of people who have been trained in the military with valuable experience serving our country. While they’re gone, the financial burden doesn’t fall on them, but on their families, and this is a way to back them up.

This would not affect a large number of people and in my city would be a fairly low-cost item. I don’t really think that we’re offering that much more. We’re not offering an additional paycheck or a difference in pay, and, hopefully, we won’t have to do it for a long period of time.

It’s a matter of whether you can sell the idea to the rest of the City Council, but I would support doing it indefinitely. It’s something beneficial that we can do for our men and women in uniform.
