THOUSAND OAKS : Council Retreat Produces New Goals

Share

The Thousand Oaks City Council ended a three-day retreat with six goals for the coming year and a resolve to stop squabbling among themselves in public, Councilwoman Elois Zeanah said.

At the retreat, Zeanah said, she talked about a City Council meeting in which other members of the council criticized her stance on the city’s Jungleland project.

“I personally felt I was the random victim of a public mugging,” she said Tuesday. “I just wanted to have a candid, frank and open discussion about it. I think we cleared the air.”

The most important part of the goal-setting session was that the council concentrated on the issues and not on people’s personalities, Mayor Frank Schillo said.

After meeting for more than 20 hours, the council emerged Saturday from its yearly session with plans to concentrate on transportation and traffic concerns, increased cooperation between the Conejo Recreation and Park District and the Conejo Valley Unified School District, intergovernmental relationships, ideas for the General Plan, redevelopment and affordable housing issues, and revenue enhancement.
