Controversy Over Protests

Share

I have been watching and reading about the numerous peace demonstrations around the world with more than a degree of skepticism. One can only respect sincere pacifists, or those worrying about relatives in the gulf. But so-called “peace activists” are another matter.

Where were the peace activists during the long years of Soviet aggression in Afghanistan? For that matter, where were they during the murderous Iran-Iraq war? It is passing strange that they only seem to get active when the United States is involved in a conflict.

When German demonstrators, whose country isn’t even involved, shout that they won’t die for Texaco, one can’t help wondering whether these people aren’t more interested in their ideological agenda than they are in peace.
