THE GULF WAR: The Home Front : Sooty Air

Share

Soot from BURNING KUWAITI OIL FIELDS could spread as far as China and North America within two weeks. According to Australian scientists using a Cray supercomputer for projections, soot from the fires may spread through most of the Northern Hemisphere within 14 days. If the soot reaches the stratosphere--the highest layer of the atmosphere--it could cause some darkening of the sky in some regions. Earlier, Iran reported that BLACK, GREASY RAIN--caused by the burning oil fields--had poured for 10 minutes on its coastal province.
