Baghdad to Stop Airing Interviews With Allied POWs
Baghdad today said it was halting broadcast interviews of allied POWs, which have been condemned as violating international law.
The Baghdad radio announcement that it would stop broadcasting POW interviews “until further notice” came after it aired a sometimes inaudible tape of statements from four more captured pilots--three Americans and an Italian.
“The number of interviews screened so far is considered sufficient until further notice,” said the radio.
Iraq claims to have captured 20 allied fliers and to have placed them at strategic sites to be used as human shields.
