UPI Extends 35% Pay Cut for Management: United Press International said it has indefinitely extended the cut in management salaries in order to keep what it said were some serious buyers interested in the financially troubled news service. UPI also said it planned to meet with Wire Service Guild representatives Tuesday to tell them it cannot afford to restore full wages to UPI’s 300 union workers, who also took pay cuts of 35% last fall. A UPI spokesman said the company was talking with “three or four” individuals or companies whom he declined to identify.
