Python Finds a Home After 5 Years in Shelter
Bonnie the irascible python, denizen for the last five years of the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society and Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in San Gabriel, has found a home. A Monterey Park man outbid a half-dozen other snake fanciers on Thursday, offering $425 for the 9-foot-long, 7-year-old snake.
Octavio Ramirez, who is in the construction business, told humane society administrators that he will build cages for Bonnie at his home and office.
Bonnie had developed bad habits, such as spitting and striking at people, because society animal handlers were too busy to pay him much attention, said society director Joan Coleman.
Bonnie, a male who was initially mistaken for a female by police who seized him during a drug raid, moves out of the Humane Society on Sunday.
