$25,000 Reward Set Up for Leads on Terrorists

The City Council voted Tuesday to post a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for terrorist-style threats or bombings in Los Angeles.

“I think it’s important that we put in place a mechanism that will strive to protect the people of Los Angeles from acts of violence, terrorism or threats of terrorism, which can be just as dangerous sometimes as the real thing,” Councilman Hal Bernson said.

Bernson introduced the proposal last week in response to an increase in bomb threats since the outbreak of war in the Persian Gulf. Los Angeles Police Department officials said security measures have been increased citywide to protect against terrorist attacks.
