VENTURA : 10 Women Accused of Beating 2 Others

A group of teen-age girls and women armed with sticks, knives and crowbars attacked two other women outside a west Ventura convenience store Monday night, police said.

Monica Rubio, 18, of Ventura was arrested later at her home and booked into Ventura County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, said Ventura Police Sgt. Randy Janes.

The incident happened in the parking lot of the Stop ‘N Go Market at Bell Way and Ventura Avenue at 9:49 p.m., when Monica Marie Negron, 19, and Carol Liane Martines, 19, both of Ventura, reportedly were beaten by 10 women described by police as Latinas between the ages of 17 and 19.

Negron’s hand was cut and her nose may have been broken, Janes said. Martines was bruised on her arms and back.
