Tampa Bay Plans to Talk to Ryan About Coaching Job
Tampa Bay Buccaneers owner Hugh Culverhouse met with Bill Walsh to discuss the team’s head coaching vacancy and also plans to talk to former Philadelphia Eagles Coach Buddy Ryan and New York Giants defensive coordinator Bill Belichick.
Bucs administrator Phil Krueger confirmed in published reports that Walsh, who led the San Francisco 49ers to three Super Bowl championships, has discussed the job. He also told the St. Petersburg Times that Culverhouse will meet with Ryan later this week.
Ray Perkins was fired Dec. 3 after compiling a 19-41 record. Interim Coach Richard Williamson also is a candidate for the job.
“Mr. Culverhouse and I left it with both of us thinking about it, and we’re going to talk again soon,” Walsh told USA Today.
