In popular slang, American infantry personnel may be dogfaces, and they may wear dog tags, but the Army said that its soldiers DO NOT NEED FLEA COLLARS. Officials said there have been numerous inquiries from concerned Americans offering to donate flea and tick collars to help U.S. troops combat the reported “sand fleas” in the Saudi Arabian desert. In a recent statement, the office of the Army’s surgeon general politely said that the well-meaning offers to donate flea collars were, uh, misplaced.
