Whites as Villains

I can only assume that Patterson would be less “proud” of his ancestors’ policy of manifest destiny if he were familiar with the meaning of the phrase.

Manifest destiny was invented by the European immigrants to this country in order to justify the innumerable broken treaties (read lies ) made by our ancestors with the Native Americans.

Unless Mr. Patterson believes the Europeans were ordained by God to dominate this country and that they were destined to be custodian of the Native American and his resources, the adherence of our ancestors to the fiction of manifest destiny is one of the basest moments in our history.

While no one would deny that the “civilization” of the North American continent brought about a net benefit to the descendants of the white European male, it requires a degree of insensitivity bordering on brutishness to be proud of the methods sometimes employed.
