Huntington Beach Sister City Stories: Relatively Unbalanced
As a member of the Sister City Assn. of Huntington Beach, I feel it necessary to comment on the recent proliferation of newspaper articles regarding Councilman Jack Kelly’s remark during the presentation of a gift from Anjo, Japan.
With all of the positive benefits derived from our sister city relationship, it is indeed unfortunate that Kelly’s remark is the incident you chose to emphasize. Numerous news releases issued by the city over the years have been ignored; the opportunity offered by the Sister City Youth Exchange program still seems to be one of the best-kept secrets of Huntington Beach.
Why does it take one untoward remark, which I sincerely believe to be without malice, to get any news coverage? Please be advised that the Sister City Assn. is composed of dedicated volunteers working very hard to provide memorable experiences that enhance young lives and broaden international understanding.
