SOUTH KOREA: The Seoul government is preparing to step up efforts to further develop high-technology industries as part of an effort to boost exports. South Korea’s Ministry of Trade and Industry last week announced that it would provide $2.1 billion in grants and low-interest loans to companies willing to upgrade their manufacturing technology during the next five years. The ministry said it would give top priority to companies involved in electronics, bioengineering and aerospace.
