Lloyd’s of London said its underwriters, for the first time during a war, will write insurance on buildings, offices and other possible land targets of terrorist attack. Rates for the new coverage will vary on the basis of the property insured, its location and the client.
Since August, the Defense Department has spent $424 million on medical supplies, $772 million on food and $967 million on clothing to support the war effort.
A mid-January survey of manufacturers by Dun & Bradstreet found that the war was increasing their uncertainty in setting near-term plans.
