Ex-Unisys Vice Chairman to Join Times Mirror Co.

Curtis A. (Curt) Hessler, a former Unisys vice chairman, will join Times Mirror Co. as a senior vice president on Feb. 15, Chairman and Chief Executive Robert F. Erburu announced.

Hessler, 47, will be in charge of the planning and development, finance, accounting and tax departments. He will also serve on Times Mirror’s management committee, reporting to Executive Vice President Charles R. Redmond, 64.

“We are pleased to have an executive of Mr. Hessler’s caliber, with a broad background in business and government, join Times Mirror at this challenging juncture in the company’s history,” Erburu said.

At Unisys, Hessler was responsible for all staff departments, as well as the company’s defense business. He joined the company in 1984. Before that, Hessler was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Sears World Trade Inc.

Hessler, an attorney, has also worked for the federal government. His positions included assistant secretary of the Treasury for economic policy, associate director of the Office of Management and Budget and executive director of the President’s Economic Policy Group.
