War Perspectives

This letter is written to thank your editors and staff for the high-quality material that I have been reading in The Times for the past 30-plus years.

I am now retired and living in a rural community in the Tehachapi Mountains. My television reception is limited, but even if it was not limited, I would not be without my daily Times. TV can never replace the written word that a person can read and re-read and digest.

I was especially moved by your articles in the Jan. 20 Opinion section (“Personal Perspectives on the Day the War Began”). The 16 essays by individuals present a wide variety of thought by thinking people. They have helped me (and certainly many other readers) to evaluate different points of view on the present conflict. After reading each individual essay, I stopped to think how valid and worthwhile the author’s opinion was.
