A tree planting ceremony is scheduled for Saturday at 9 a.m. on Warner Avenue in Westwood, a project of the Westwood Homeowners’ Assn.
The group, which represents 3,000 Westwood homes south of Wilshire Boulevard, started to plan the event last year during a celebration of Westwood’s 60th anniversary. According to association President Joyce Foster, the group solicited corporate sponsors to raise the money to buy 100 trees to beautify the area.
Among the contributors were the Weyerhaeuser Mortgage Co., Cal Fed Enterprises, The Nansay Corp., Silton Properties and Home Savings.
City Councilman Zev Yaroslavsky and other officials are expected to attend the ceremony.
