Vaclav Havel, president of the Czech Slovak Federal Republic (formerly Czechoslovakia), will be honored by UCLA when he visits the campus April 18.
Havel, a noted playwright as well as a political leader, will be awarded the UCLA Medal. He will also deliver the university’s Tanner Lecture on Human Values at a special academic convocation.
Jailed as a dissident by the former Czech government, Havel will also meet with graduate students interested in international relations.
