Does Doing His Time Clear Rose’s Name?

I have always believed we live in a free country, where a person was innocent until proven guilty. This Pete Rose miscarriage makes me believe that baseball hierarchy considers itself above the normal laws of the land.

Pete Rose was tried and found guilty of evading taxes. He served time for that.

If he were tried and found guilty of betting on Cincinnati Reds’ baseball games or if he were tried and found guilty of deliberately affecting the outcome of games, then one could understand the actions of the commissioner when he banned Rose from baseball for life.

The truth is, he was banned on the hearsay evidence provided by a sports bookie, a person of lower moral character than a baseball player (sarcasm intended).
